[capitalismos] TERROR OF TRUCKERS

Basil Venitis, twitter.com/Venitis, points out that most labor leaders are in cahoots with mafiosi and kleptocrats. In Greece, the most corrupt country on Earth, labor leaders kept their mouths shut about Graecokleptocrats churning eighty billion euros of the pension funds of poor Greek workers, in exchange for seats in the Greek Parliament, aka the Grand Brothel on Syntagma Square!

The Union of Greek truckers terrorizes all Greece, demanding the prohibition of new truck licenses! Those truckers had bought truck licenses for 300,000 euros each, and they do not want the government to issue new cheap licenses following a directive from Fourth Reich(EU). In response, The Greek government has drafted all trucks, which means the striking trucks now have to obey the military law to serve the nation. The Greek government enlisted on Friday the help of the army in a bid to tackle the five-day strike by truck drivers, dispatching military trucks to help alleviate nationwide fuel shortages.

The armed forces, with their own means, are already guaranteeing the supply of critical sectors such as airports, electricity plants, and hospitals. Navy landing craft also contribute in the effort. The names of those defying the truck draft order will be sent to public prosecutors in order to be charged, while the penalties foreseen under the law, including revoking the offender's licence, will be immediately enforceable.

Basil Venitis, an Athenian orator, points out Plato and Aristotle asserted that different regimes produce different types of human beings, and regimes ought to be judged by the character of their citizens. In Europe, the growth of interventionist welfare state has damaged personal responsibility and integrity, fostered dependence, undermined families, rejected venitism, and promoted corruption. Especially in Greece, the most corrupt country on Earth, Graecokleptocracy is accepted as a normal thing, and most Greeks rely on graft, sinecures, cheating, incivility, cacodemony, cancer of socialism, jingoism, religionism, lies, and kickbacks. The character of modern Greece of the 300 Graecokleptocrats is the opposite of the character of ancient Greece of the 300 Spartans of Leonidas.

The Achilles Heel of the national character is licensure. Basil Venitis asserts that all licenses should be abolished, including doctors, lawyers, and marriage. Licensure is an immoral exercise of force, an overly burdensome restraint on trade, a violation of the right to liberty, a mill of kickbacks. Government is a guarantor of liberty and is compatible with liberty only if its range is adequately restricted to the preservation of economic freedom. One of the many reasons why government licensure is incompatible with liberty, therefore, is because it is destructive of economic freedom. No other nation demands more licenses than Greece.

Venitis asserts that anyone has the natural right to pursue any means of providing for himself so long as in doing so he does not act fraudulently or otherwise violate the rights of others. The State mandated license turns the free market upside down. It prohibits everyone from producing in a given industry except for those who are granted the privilege of doing so by the State, especially those who provide huge kickbacks to kleptocrats. The State, in such a misery, absorbs all individual rights unto itself and then divvies up some of those rights in any number of ways that increase the flow of kickbacks.

Under a licensing system, such as we have today, if someone attempts to exercise his natural right to provide for himself without the state's nod of approval, which usually comes with kickbacks, that person goes to jail. Imprisonment for supporting oneself in an honest and non-fraudulent manner which does not infringe on the rights of others just doesn't seem right. Preemptive protection is offensive in nature, and therefore, is itself a violation of natural rights. In a free society, it is only after fraud or another violation of rights takes place that the state has the right to intervene on behalf of the consumer.

By means of the licensure power, the State can permit the individual to eat or it can condemn him to starve, unless he gives kickbacks to kleptocrats. So long as the government has the power to issue licenses to live, we cannot claim to be free, and living without freedom is not much of a life. Fortunately, we still have a license to kill unsound and coercive government measures, so let us use that license to regain our right to live.

Venitis points out Greece requires more licenses than any other country. For anything you do in Greece, you have to take permission from the government, a bureaucratic task that requires filling myriad papers. It's impossible to fill all these papers accurately. That's why Greeks either give up or give kickbacks to public employees to accept incomplete piles of papers.

As the Latin expression puts it, Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? This is a phrase from the Roman poet Juvenal, which is literally translated as "Who will guard the guards themselves?" It is also sometimes rendered as "Who watches the watchmen?" In Greece, the watchers of watchmen are all corrupt!

The government, meanwhile, has warned truck owners through the ministers involved and the government spokesman that it will enforce the law and continue to requisition both the vehicles and the civil mobilisation of their owners. Government officials stressed that no professional group had the right to make the whole of society and the country hostage to its demands.

Problems in the mainland markets were less pronounced on Friday and Saturday, as the tanker trucks and vehicles owned by oil companies have been working incessantly over the past 24 hours after picketing by strikers stopped, ensuring a better supply of fuel to petrol stations. Added to these will be the drafted vehicles, the first of which started to appear at Thessaloniki refineries on Friday.

The situation was more serious on several Greek islands, however, where petrol stations ran out of fuel three days ago and shortages in other goods, especially fresh fruit and vegetables, are starting to appear.

The military draft orders to individual truck owners were also starting to be delivered in large numbers, 48 hours after the decision was announced by the government, with police estimating that the process of serving the papers will be completed by Monday.
